What are Dysport® and Xeomin®?

Dysport® and Xeomin® are neuromodulators that work by inhibiting nerve transmission. A messenger is released from a neuron that affects the transmission of signals between neurons. When injected into the targeted area beneath the skin’s surface, it binds to the muscle receptors and signals to block the release of acetylcholine. Because acetylcholine activates muscles, blocking it temporarily reduces muscle activity and improves the appearance of wrinkles caused by repeated muscle contractions.

How are Dysport® and Xeomin® Different from BOTOX®?

BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® temporarily improve wrinkles' appearance. All three relax the muscles that cause creases, resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance.

BOTOX® is typically used for moderate to severe wrinkles. It was the first FDA-approved treatment of frown lines and forehead lines for up to six months.

Dysport® is similar to BOTOX® but is said to diffuse more quickly, making it a better choice for treating large areas or people with sensitive skin. Dysport® results generally last up to four months.
