About chin augmentation
Chin augmentation is a surgical procedure that alters the shape of the chin. It is also known as genioplasty or mentoplasty. There are two main types of chin augmentation: implant surgery and chin augmentation with natural fat transfer.
Implant surgery: Chin implants, also known as mentoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the chin's shape and size. The most common type of implant is made of a solid silicone material. Other options include materials such as Gore-Tex or Medpor. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes about an hour. First, the surgeon makes an incision either inside the lower lip or just below the chin. Next, a pocket is created either above the jawbone or under the skin's layer. The implant is then inserted into this pocket and positioned in the desired location. Once it is in place, the incision is closed with stitches. There is usually minimal discomfort after the surgery, and most patients can return to their normal activities within a week. Chin implants can provide significant improvement in appearance and help to achieve facial harmony.
Fat augmentation: The chin structure can be enhanced with an advanced natural fat grafting procedure. The process involves harvesting fat cells from another body area, such as abdomen, thighs, or flanks, purifying the cells, and injecting them to create more volume and balance to the facial structure.
